Complaint against Currys PC World
I purchased an Acer computer in Dec 2016 and when in early December 17 it developed a fault I returned it for repair , under warranty via my local Curry's store. I explained I do not understand much about IT, I am a writer and use the computer regularly but do not understand technical terminology Curry's accepted my machine in full working order, a part from the fault which meant sometimes when refreshing the screen it was as if a striped blind had been pulled over it and I had no way to continue or turn the computer off. The first time the machine was returned my son-in -law was unable to access any programmes at all, so it was returned. A week later I collected it again, just before I travelled for the Christmas break, only to be told by my son-in-law, that all the programmes/ info/ files had been wiped from the machine. I cannot understand how this could be called "service". We have managed to retrieve some files and have worked hard to re-instate some programmes, but I have lost lots of files / photos and a book I had written. It has caused me great distress. I cannot emphasis that enough. How can it be ok for your team to return a computer completely wiped and, if this was a possibility, why was I not given some warning? It seems to me completely unethical and unacceptable!
