Andrex toilet paper 'voted' best in 2018 – but customers say its rubbish
They just don't make toilet paper like they used to.
Well in the case of Andrex's Supreme Quilts toilet paper – they actually don't.
And customers aren't happy.
A Spokesman Said has received heaps of complaints from people saying the product's quality has gone down the toilet.
However, Andrex say their Supreme Quilts toilet paper was recently voted the best of 2018.
We thought we'd go to the customers themselves and get to the bottom of it:
Dee Budge told us that the paper was "dusty" and "simply doesn’t do the job".
"I have bought Andrex quilts for many years. The quality has deteriorated. The product is not soft and not as many sheets as previously.
"Get real Andrex, I would rather pay more and get a quality product. This is rubbish."
Alan Rose agreed the quality had got worse.
"The paper seems to be of a quality which is not as strong as a few months ago, it breaks up and doesn't do the job it's supposed to do."
Charles Halsey missed the old paper.
"Andrex had a classic perfectly good line of toilet tissue then one day they decided to mess round with it all.
"Shea Butter? I do not wish to better butter my bottom thank you very much. Cotton? It's TOO ROUGH! Scented this, that and the other. A big no thank you. I am now proactively seeking Andrex substitutes."
Janet Garner was also looking to other brands.
"I have always resisted buying supermarkets' own brand toilet tissue but I am about to change my buying habits. Andrex is now much thinner, with the result that I use about a third more sheets. I shall therefore be changing the habit of some 60 years.
Product of the Year?
In 2016, Andrex cut the number of sheets in its loo rolls by 21 sheets – but kept the £2 price tag the same.
The number of sheets on its standard Classic roll was slashed from 221 to 200.
That’s the equivalent of a sixth less.
A Spokesman Said first started getting complaints about the quality of the toilet paper in January 2017.
More than a year on and we are still getting complaints about the quality.
So, we went to Andrex's parent company Kimberly Clark and asked them what's what.
In classic corporate style, they didn't answer any of our questions.
What they did tell us was that Andrex's Supreme Quilts had recently been voted "Product of the Year 2018 in the Household Paper Category", as surveyed by more than 10,000 consumers by Kantar TNS.
So what do you think? Has Andrex dropped in quality? Or is it 'product of the year'?
If you're still not satisfied with Andrex you can tell them here.
