Complaint against Sky

I am e-mailing yourself because I consider that SKY are trying to Rip Me Off [plus a lot of other people]. Whilst you may pay any outstanding debt plus a month when trying to cancel the contract, they consider it is not cancelled until SKY send out the paperwork, which can take however long they want. 1. I took out a contract with SKY TV in October 2014 when, as a retired person, I had just moved into a new flat. This was because although I had tried BT first, they never met their own deadlines. 2. I later left the flat at the end of May to stay with my daughter in Devon. 3. I had talked to SKY in April to ask what the sequence of events should be, and they said that I would have to pay until the end of JUNE. 4. Also that I needed to phone them nearer the time, and probably best if also on the day I moved out, which I did. 5. After a period of some weeks, I started to get a demand from SKY for £27, which was an odd number as normal payment was nearer £48, so I assumed it was in error. 6. By early October, they had passed this on to a small claims company, who I did contact. 7. They suggested that I should talk to SKY, as I said that I was not paying it. They said that even so, they would still send me paperwork for the next 6 months. 8. What they also said was that Sky had a process that most people did not realise. This was that the contract is not considered closed until paperwork is sent out which takes a further 2 weeks, and hence is chargeable. 9. I talked to SKY, who agreed that I had phoned them during May, but had no record of our April conversation. Hence he said that because of the contract, I still owed them money and the phone went blank.
