Complaint against Tesco Mobile

I couldn't pay final bill because I moved house at the same time as I ported my number from Tesco Mobile, so the credit card details they held didn't match. I sent cheque for £42.24, with note explaining that automated systems wouldn't let me pay. Three weeks later Tesco returned cheque. I wrote asking for alternative method. They wrote saying to phone the number I had tried and failed with before. In desperation I emailed CEO and someone called me back. But they had already put a late payment on my credit report. They offered me a gesture of goodwill for my trouble (not yet received), but refuse to replace the late payment indicator on my report with something credit-neutral.
