Complaint against Trainline

I travelled return and on the journey misplaced my ticket as the inspector was asking ro check it. I did however have my outward bound tickets and receipt of the whole journey - he insisted the booking was not "correct" and was for one way only. The cost of the journey was proof enough this was not the case. I get really disorientated when I misplace things, lately, it is a side effect of treatment for cancer. He insisted I pay the full journey amount, just to get home? £21.50. There was no alternative, luckily I had that amount in my account. On writing to the Trainline, sending the original set of tickets, and the missing ticket (which once I calmed down I found in the back of my wallet). Took photocopies and sent everything recorded as suggested by Trainline. Simple answer - no, we have no discretionary powers and we cannot consent to a refund. This was by email about a week later. So in fact, I have paid twice for my journey and they pocket £21.50? Or somebody does?
