Complaint against Virgin Holidays
We booked a 10 night holiday for January 2017, as a 40th wedding anniversary trip. We booked in June 2016, paid the deposit with the balance due in November. In October, they sent an e mail reminder that we must pay the balance in full by November or they would cancel the booking. On Oct 18th, I went to check the booking details on their site, and discovered that the reserved seats had been changed for the return flight. When I checked this with (what turned out to be) Virgin Atlantic customer services, I was informed that the return flight had been cancelled in early August. SO...Virgin Holidays are demanding full payment for a booking that hadn't existed for 2 1/2 months - think that qualifies as attempted fraud - and have still not be notified of the change. If I hadn't found myself....I could have ended up paying the full amount, which surely must be FRAUD I immediately contacted Virgin Holidays, and every question about the cancellation or payment demand was answered by "that's a different department". Sorry, but when you book a holiday, you book it with the company NOT a specific department. The upshot of this is that they have given me 3 alternatives: 1. Change the dates - well, as its to celebrate a 40th anniversary, not possible, 2. Choose alternative - the return flights been cancelled, sl I would have to change dates - see above. Also, we chose a very specific hotel, as we'd been there before, and 3. Cancel at no charge -that's kind, as this is a legal right in the case of a major change, and what else would you call a flight cancellation? Basically, I've gone back to the MD of Virgin Holidays, and am waiting. Please everyone who reads this - beware of this company. The problems above simply show that they are con artists who do not care about customers or providing any sort of customer service.
