Complaint against On the Beach

I booked a holiday with on the beach once I booked I realised the flight times and that I would be unable to do these due to work commitments so phoned up not even 10mins after booking to be told I had to phone back in a couple of hours even though the website said "please call when your booking is sitting at pending to make any amendments" I then phoned up two hours later to be told it was still at pend I just explained I wanted to cancel my booking and she said she would put a note on my booking to cancel it and promised me a call back. Then I received my booking confirmation to decided to phone up again and spoke to someone then to be told it had to be put to the "24 hour amends team" not once did they mention I would need to pay any charges for cancelling and told me I would receive a refund. Today I have messaged them on Twitter and on their website to then be called back and told that I would need to be like 285 to cancel my holiday which was the first time I had heard of having to paying as it explains on their website a 30 pound pp charge would be made if I cancelled nothing about 285. I asked if I could change my flight and was giving a date I was unavailable to fly. Now I'm stuck with the same flight and have to re-arrange holidays at work as well as stuck with rubbish flights.
