[RESPONDED] Don’t touch holiday gems

Complaint against Holiday Gems

We booked online, they then rang us and asked us to confirm a nominal amount they had taken from our account and ring them back. They charge you to call them then don’t take your calls, promising to call you back when you eventually do get through but don’t . Eventually we managed to call and they claimed the flights had gone up in price in the two hours we’d been trying ( another £90). Then they tried to book the hotel but that had been booked too but the would ‘ring the hotel direct’ , yet again it was going to be another £200 , but it was a late booking so we were willing to pay. We had paid for airport transfers and were dumped in the town and told to walk to our hotel - when we got there it didn’t look like in the pictures. It transpired that they had booked us into a different hotel (it didn’t even have a picture on their website so we knew we would never have chosen that one). It was dirty, the food was dreadful and a word of warning DONT BOOK COLOMBO MIX in Majorca for all inclusive, it’s dreadful and not worth the money.

This is a formal complaint being addressed with the lead passenger. However, the difference in cost was £122 and not as claimed. The orders processed are on a request only basis as the costs and availability are fed from cached data directly from our suppliers and/or brokers. Once orders are received by our office, should we not be able to honour the booking at the web price we will call the client to offer any suitable alternatives which is then up to the client to accept or not. The other issues are regarding the hotel and not Holiday Gems service.
