too late to attend my Sisters Funeral taking place in Cyprus

Complaint against easyJet

A flight was booked via Easy jet web site and paid in full with a credit card very early in the morning on the 15th July to attend my sisters Funeral taking place the following day in Cyprus following a short spell in hospital and satten Death informed by telephone in the same morning. The Flight No 5455 was departing 3.10 in the afternoon from Gatwick south Terminal to Paphos. Cyprus. I hastily sorted all my belongings and a taxi was hired to take my all the way there from Enfield to Gatwick. I got there in good time to check in without a seat no being confirmed and boarding pass issued to proceed to gate No 11 I think when it was opened. Unfortunately we were made to wait there until the last minute with another 3 fellow passengers only to be told no seats available for any of us on that flight and told to return to the check in desk at the front of the airport building. To our amazement and to our bad luck the computers went down. At that point we were told that nothing else could be done and left us to find our way home again to make other arrangements for the following Day. This is what I call large public company taking our money but providing no service what so ever and not even trying to apologise for all the problems we were facing. I wonder whether other passengers had the same kind of problems and if indeed other companies in the holiday industry have the same policy in place and if organisations such as Abta and others representing the interest of the passengers and the public at large are doing any thing about it. It will be interesting to hear more about this problem and from other passengers that may had the same or different experiences in the past.

The matter was resolved only 3 weeks ago. It has taken 4 months for Easy jet to finally admit to the problem and refund the ticket money plus 400 euros into sterling. Unfortunatley i only received £275. Is pretty obvious the exchange rate used.No mentioned of the length of telephone conversations and costs incurred.
