Complaint against Lufthansa

We were flying from Venice to Frankfurt with a connecting flight to Birmingham on 16th September. Flight to Frankfurt was delayed by an hour due to late arrival of plane, which caused us to miss our onward connection by about 10 mins. We were transferred to a later flight to Birmingham 6 hours later. The flight showed on departure screen airside, but when we checked later there was no mention of the flight so we went to check at the departure gate and were told that the flight had been cancelled, due to "bad weather" although other flights were taking off and landing. We then had to queue for two hours and a half to be told that we would have to wait until 13.10 the following day for a flight to Düsseldorf connecting to another flight to Birmingham. We were not offered a direct flight the following day and NO hotels were available to us overnight, so we had to stay in the cold, miserable airport until our flight nearly 20 hours later. To make matters even worse, our luggage did not arrive in UK until 4 days later. We have incurred expenses for telephone calls, meals, extra airport parking charges and loss of earnings. We contacted Lufthansa on arrival home, but have not heard anything since, despite chasing them.
