Complaint against National Holidays
With regard to a trip to London 4th/5th November, specifically to see the Barbarians v All Black Rugby match at Twickenham. We were dropped of at Twickenham and advised by the driver that he would pick us up at 1700 hrs, where he dropped us off. All passengers attended at 1700 hours, even though it meant that some left the game a little early as it had overrun. The Coach did not arrive until 1845 - one and threequarter hours late. The reason given us by the driver is that he hadn't known that the roads around the stadium would be closed after the game to allow for pedestrians ! It meant that 30 + passengers, including a number of elderly, and several like myself slightly disabled, had to stand in bitterly cold weather, in the road without shelter. However, whilst waiting it was discovered by one of the passengers, in conversation with a steward at the pick up point , that the driver HAD been advised, at the time he dropped us off that the roads would be closed until 1800 hrs. It is accepted that he apologised to us BUT I believe he could have got the delay info to us by being at the pick up point himself, albeit on foot, at the prescribed time, thus enabling us to seek cover and refreshment in the stadium. I am afraid that this lack of care reflects very badly on the Company and I am seeking recompense for my discomfort.
