Trains suspended from Hove/Brighton without being informed prior to purchasing a travel ticket

Complaint against National Rail

Friday 15.01.16 I purchased a £28.20 return rail ticket from Kings Cross to Hove I was not told the trains were to be suspended from Hove & Brighton due to maintenace work 16.1.16 Hence I did not get the opportunity to choose how I was going to from my travel. I feel I was charged for a return service that was not going to be available to me. I made my own arrangements and got a lift from my family in their car. I wrote to TFL Ref No: 6314144 enclosed a copy of my ticket purchased who informed to contact National Rail but I've been unable to locate their address.
