Clare's complaint against Ryanair

Misleading information on documentation accepted to travel to Ireland

Complaint against Ryanair

I checked Ryanair website prior to booking as I knew my fellow passengers didn't have a passport. It stated that Photo ID is accepted provided it matched the details on the booking. When I needed to check in online I was n't abled to as it needs Passport details. I used the live chat to ask about this but was told they needed a passport for this particular flight. I have spoken to Passport Office and they said you can travel legally to Dublin on a photo licence. Ryanair will not accept this and sais they cannot override the system and also the airport staff would not let them board either. I would have had them obtain a passport if the website was more specific with its requirements for Ireland. They will not accept that you are LEGALLY ALLOWED to travel without a passport to Dublin but Ryanair website should clearly state this.
