'Furniture Village' Poor Quality & Service Alert

My elderly mother in law bought two sofa's from Furniture Village, which were delivered in May of 2016, and even paid and extra £195:00 for extra insurance cover . Soon after delivery she became concerned that one of the seats on the three seat settee was dipping and uncomfortable. When she contacted the store they assured her that sometimes they needed time to settle? My mother in law is a widow who lives alone, she is a very petite woman, who has few visitors. Not one to complain she persevered with the seat expecting it to improve. She avoided the seat and used others. However even with minimal use the seat continued to cause problems dipping alarmingly. Eventually with the seat effectively unusable she again contacted the store about a year after delivery, they agreed to send a technician. When the technician arrived he put extra packing in the seat. She was again asked to leave to settle. Within a short time it became apparent that the repair had not worked. She again contacted the store and they again sent out a technician (late summer 2017), he told my mother in law that no further packing would be possible and nothing could be done? I happened to visit my mother in law yesterday and noted the state of the seat. I was shocked by the failure of 'Furniture Village' to deal with a piece of furniture that was so clearly not fit for purpose. I immediately rang the customer service department who informed me that no further action could be taken without payment of a call out fee. They alleged that the fault was the result of wear and tear, and not covered either under normal guarantee, or indeed the extra insurance my mother in law had paid for?? I am currently taking legal advice and will seek redress on behalf of my mother in law, once I have the furniture independently and publically assessed. In the meantime I would encourage everyone to consider carefully any furniture purchase from this company. If the use described above represents 'Fair Wear and Tear' probable she only be looked at and not actually sat on!

TERRIBLE SERVICE, RUDE STAFF AND NO CUSTOMER AFTERCARE

Spend close to £15K in Furniture Village Watford, had loads of items arrive faulty and replaced, including power sofas and lighting, etc. It’s been 11 months since I put the order in, there were problems with the sofa twice and the lighting they sell, I asked for help to deal with the issues, not only the problems are not solved, the staff was utter arrogance and rude ignorant. He seemed to be very un-helpful and defensive. I still left with the problem, and cost me more to fix the issues. PLEASE BE WARNED – they are friendly and pushy when you buy from them, the good reviews from the customers were those without problems, however, should you have any issues, ‘ZERO’ support will be get from them and leave the mess you will deal with it. A VERY DISAPPOINTED CUSTOMER AND WE WILL NOT GOING BACK TO THIS STORE OR ANY OTHER STORES DUE TO THIS EXPERIENCE

Furniture village useless

Furniture looks great! Just don’t be surprised if nobody contacts you re your delivery then when you chase tells you the supplier has ‘run out of fabric’ and delivery will be January meaning you have no sofa for Xmas unless you take another colour for which nobody can confirm if there is a sample...when you ask about the other sofa you ordered don’t be surprised if again nobody comes back to you...and don’t be surprised if you email the CEO the ops Director, the product director and the son of the CEO if you receive no response...even when you send them a photo of you from your hospital bed asking where the sofa is that you were meant to get this week…

5 Year Warranty but not covered.!!

Word of Advice for anyone wanting to buy a sofa from FURNITURE VILLIAGE at portrack Lane..!!! You buy a sofa from these rip off merchants with a 5 year warranty & extra care cover, yes full cover you may think but yet your not covered from day 1 with the stuffing..!!! We bought 2 new leather sofa’s not cheap either might I add, on delivery we noticed one of the top corners was faulty as the stuffing was rubbish so delivery guys said “oh wait 3 weeks & the contact shop as it will settle down before then but if not call the shop & they’ll sort it out” ok, took his advice & called shop on 3 weeks as still not right, shop told us “nowt to do with us now as we should have called within 14 days for a replacement sofa but we’ll send someone out to repair it as it’s under a 5 year warranty... Guy came out & gave it his best shot, few years later we have the same problem on same corner, so thought I would contact shop again to send repairer out.. I was told it’s not covered under warranty... erm hang on it was before... yes sir but it was done as a good will gesture as it wasn’t included in the warranty... erm hang on, this sofa was 3 weeks old & you now tell me you repaired it as a good will gesture..!!! Unfortunately yes we did sir..!! Ok, trading standards here I come.!! Can everyone please share the life out of this as I don’t want potential customers to getting ripped off by FURNITURE VILLIAGE like we did.!! Thanks for sharing 👍
