Drivers aged 65 and over are paying up to 30% more than they need to for car insurance, according to new research from Consumer Intelligence—and they could drastically reduce their bills by making one easy change.
Simply switching to the most competitive deals on the market could save older drivers up to a third of what they’re currently paying. The research analysed more than 14,000 insurance quotes, and found that the cheapest annual car insurance bills for this demographic come to £477, but many over 65s are currently paying up to £685 per year. |

That means that by switching, over 65s could save up to £208 per year.
The research found that one in seven older motorists haven't changed their car insurance provider in over nine years, and risk paying over the odds as a result of their loyalty. The 44% of older motorists who switch insurance provider every two years are presented with significantly reduced annual bills. The solution is clear: shop around, switch, and save. |
