Your Right Choice Insurance Reviews
Olivia Davies: 1/5 Stars 16/04/2018 Increased quote from comparison site and took 2 lots of money Called today to confirm insurance to be told premium was over £200 more then quoted and the excess was £550 not the £250 on bike insure comparison site. Pre authorised 2 lots of premium without permission and said will take up to 3 weeks for refund now got no money to live on. Right Choice Insurance Brokers has not yet responded. Nish Ant: 1/5 Stars 15/05/2019 Terrible terrible company. avoid at all costs They upped my quote by £500 on phone despite all details being the same as online. Then a chap called Michael made a mistake on his end which I ended up having to pay for. Despite a GDPR request for the tape of the call showing his mistake, they have not complied and it's been 52 weeks now. This year they have taken £1,312 from my account despite my wanting to not renew the policy. I've read their response that they don't actually take money but thats rubbish- that money has left my account according to the bank. I've made 4 calls now, each being at least 40 minutes long. Been shunted between departments then placed on hold then the call was cut by them. Every time. They haven't refunded my money, and I don't know if my car is even insured! I've actually taped the last call given their uselessness and I'm glad I have as I'll be passing it to my solicitor. Right Choice Insurance Brokers has not yet responded. Adrian Grundy: 1/5 Stars 04/06/2019 AVOID AT ALL COSTS I took a policy out with them on a comparison site as they were the cheapest quote. They wanted a copy of my driving licence and code to see if i have any penalty point etc (no problem), but they also wanted a copy of the V5 for the car that i had just purchased. (never in 27 years of motoring has this been asked for!) I sent copies of all the documents i had. i..e the new keepers slip and the receipt to show that i had just purchased the car. RCIB demanded that i send the V5 or they would cancel the policy. Now bear in mind that DVLA clearly states that it can take 4 WEEKS to send the new V5 out. So RCIB after 3 WEEKS cancelled my policy as i had failed to send them the V5 that i HAVE NOT RECEIVED YET! despite my explaining this to them! I believe that they are a fraudulent company as there are lots of similar stories online. as ii will not see the £126 deposit again. I am in the process of reporting them to the financial services ombudsman, all the price comparison sites and the insurance company that the are acting on behalf of as to their shady practices. so AVOID AT ALL COSTS! unless you want to be defrauded. Right Choice Insurance Brokers has not yet responded. Paul Cox: 1/5 Stars 16/08/2019 Please avoid this company for any insurance RCIB are a named insurance company on comparison websites. There premiums are generally lower than competitors and draw consumers in with new policies. Then they find any excuse to demand further premiums after the cooling off period to continue with the policy and failure to pay within 7 days will result in policy cancellation and then a huge task to get some of your premium back after the deduction of substantial brockerage fees. I wont detail my personal experience but please read other reviews on the website and others such as trust pilot. You will see other positive reviews but without a doubt when you read the content of the positive reviews you should see they are purely fabricated as short and always refer to named staff by christian and surname!! They are legal scammers with no regard to clients, they use pressure tactics to obtain further premiums and I am convinced from own employee reviews that their customer service team have targets to obtain additional premiums. At your own cost avoid this review and many others. Right Choice Insurance Brokers has not yet responded. Story by Fred Isaac 20/04/2017 Right Choice Insurance responds to angry customers An insurance broker has responded to a slew of criticism on social media over its business practices. Customers took to Facebook to accuse Right Choice Insurance of: * Hard-sell tactics over the phone and via text * Raising the price of premiums after customer had agreed a quote on a comparison site * Levying unexpected and unfair cancellation fees * Making changes to the original policy, including adding a higher voluntary excess, increasing monthly payments and increasing the annual mileage on car insurance policies. One customer, Andy Stead, claims his policy ended up costing £210 more than the original quote after the company upped the voluntary excess and reduced the annual mileage on his car insurance policy. “I asked to cancel and was told it would cost £100,” Andy said. “I dread to think how they would deal with any future issues or an accident.” 47 people have joined a Facebook group where angry Right Choice customers share their experiences. We spoke to one customer, Paul Baker, 30, from Leeds, who paid £850 for a year’s cover for his Volkswagon Golf. Tradesman Paul says Right Choice then charged him a further £350 for his policy to become ‘active’. Right Choice told us Paul’s quote jumped because of a problem with his application: “During post-inception validation checks [Mr Baker] provided proof of a commercial vehicle policy, which is still active on another vehicle and cannot be applied.” When we raised the other customers’ concerns, the Essex-based broker insisted it had done nothing wrong. Right Choice responds Here’s what they told us: “Unlike most providers of insurance, we do not simply put a price online, allow the client to buy and then take our commission without having provided an insurance broking service. We speak to every customer, check their information and make sure that the insurance policy is correct and meets with their requirements. “Unfortunately, many customers inadvertently make mistakes online or purposely set out to commit application fraud, meaning that the price they are quoted could be incorrect and in more serious cases the policy could be unacceptable to the insurer, resulting in a voidance of a policy or possibly even a claim not being dealt with. In many cases the premium often reduces from that given online, once we aware of the correct information. “The majority of customers we deal with are usually pleased that we have discovered the mistakes and ensured that they are correctly covered, however some of them still expect to pay the lower price despite the information being incorrect.” If Right Choice Insurance checks out each policy before activation, why is the money taken immediately? “No money is taken, only a pre-authorisation is conducted." No money is taken from the client before the information has been checked and the correct price agreed, once cover has started the client is charged. Right Choice told us clients can, as is their right, cancel within the first 14 days of cover (the so-called cooling off period), but a charge would be made for the time on cover and for some of what they describe as their ‘set up costs’.. If Right Choice finds errors whilst checking the policy, which then lead to a more expensive quote, why aren’t customers who have made the mistake and requested to cancel offered a full refund immediately? “No money has been taken, no charges are made for any client who chooses not to proceed. Pre authorisation is lifted immediately.” Are customers told to pay a cancellation fee when they request this refund? “Customers are only charged if they cancel a policy after the information has been checked, a premium agreed and cover has started. Our cancellation fees are shown on our website and made clear to every customer prior to money being taken. We charge £45 for cancellation of an insurance policy, this is in line with our competitors. “We do not make any money from policies which cancel during the cooling off period. “As we have simply pre-authorised a payment and haven’t taken any money prior to cover being agreed, the customer is free at that point to walk away from the policy and is not obligated to agree the policy or penalised in any way.” Right Choice told us the cancellation charge was in line with FCA rules.
