Your Staysure Reviews
Kieran Brennan: 1/5 Stars Don't Pay out on Holiday cancellation due to Death of Parent Staysure are fine to deal with when you are buying the policy, and as long as you don't need to claim, things are great! However, if you do need to claim as I did following the unexpected death of my father 3 days before my planned holiday, then that's where the customer service ends. After providing all manner of documentation - death certificate, GP's letter, completed questionnaire, holiday booking forms, cancellation confirmations, and a subsequent medical form to send to my father's GP, I had my claim 'declined'. Apparently, as my father was elderly and on medication for some long-standing but controlled conditions he was automatically not covered - even though there is no way to provide this information when buying the policy. What a get-out-of-jail clause that is! In my experience Staysure's underwriters, ERV, are an unprofessional, dismissive and rude bunch of sharks, who refused to explain their decision to me, and I even had the phone put down on me. Whilst Staysure and ERV are different companies (as far as i know), I feel strongly that Staysure should have an onus of responsibility towards their customers in cases such as mine, rather than passing the buck and asking me to take up the matter with ERV through their complaints procedure. Given their response to date, I am not at all optimistic that their response will be in the least bit helpful or demonstrate the slightest bit of humanity. Staysure have my money - not ERV - and it is in Staysure's interest not to have their reputation affected by the off-handed and rude behavior of their underwriter. Staysure responded on 08/01/2018: Dear Mr Brennan Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I have passed your review onto ERV and have asked them to respond to your complaint as soon as possible. Kind regards Ross Customer Service Team Leader Stephen Betts: 1/5 Stars 28/11/2017 Fine till you make a claim Having booked travel insurance for my wife and 2 grandchildren at beginning of year i unfortunatly got admitted to hospital just 2 days prior to trip later that year. We were devastated as grandchildren had been couting the days down. Wife initaily refused to go but i pursuaded her to go if a friend could take my place. Tour operator luckily agreed to cancell me off the trip and add friend for extra charge which i was happy to pay for pease of mind. Grandchildren did not have to suffer for me. Staysure subsequenly were not so accomodating in swaping names, and told me i had to pay seperatly for new person despite me saying that i had no interest in claiming if i could do. They subsequentialy told me to claim for myself. Seemed silly, but so be it, or so i thought. As soon as claim went in was rejected as i had not cancelled the whole trip and someone had taken my place. They admit that thier terms and conditions does not say that i cannot do this but they can introduce terms if they so chose, apparantly. Had they told me at the time of informing them of the curcumstances that i could only claim if the whole trip was cancelled than my actions would have been different. They have made a bad situations 10 times worse. Trying to be fair with this company has cost me dearly so if you are looking for travel insurance dont judge on how nice they are in taking your money look far deeper than that hope you dont get hung out to dry as i have Staysure responded on 01/12/2017: Dear Mr Betts Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are investigating your comments and will contact you shortly. Kind regards Ross Customer Service Manager READ MORE: Shopping Guides & Tips | How to Avoid Scams & Online Shopping Problems |

Paul Aungiers: 1/5 Stars 22/08/2019 Despicable service Despicable service from dishonourable people. My mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer after taking a policy out. She had to cancel her holiday to undergo treatment and submitted a claim. Staysure spent 5 months trying to dismiss the claim on the grounds of a pre-existing condition requesting medical history 6 months prior to taking the insurance out. Still requesting further information whilst she was on her death bed. My mother sadly passed away on the 22nd July, her claim on a paltry £500 policy with £85 excess was dismissed. Please don't give this company a 5* review based on how good they are at taking your money, should you ever need to make a claim you will be sorely disappointed. They will undoubtedly refer you to an obscure technicality in their T & C's and fight tooth and nail to defend their position. They have no intention of paying out any claim...it's your fault unless you are prepared to spend 6 months+ to prove otherwise. Absolute despicable bunch of cowboys. Staysure has not yet responded. Nicole Beauregard: 1/5 Stars 19/07/2019 Unfit to be an insurance company My mum had a fall abroad and broke her neck. Despite having twice being assessed by a Dr designated “ Unfit to Fly” due to the high risk of another’s fall ( which would result in her being paralyzed) Staysure insisted that she be repatriated or they would cancel coverage. They wouldn’t provide us with any details about the repatriation other than a pick up time. Staysure were not interested in her safety, just getting her back to the UK so the NHS could pay for any future medical needs. The people we dealt with were rude, unsympathetic to her state and not interested in what was best for her. Don’t use this company. They take your money easily but getting help when you need it is a different story. Staysure has not yet responded. V Stone: 1/5 Stars 18/11/2019 Terrible cover My dad died whilst abroad, he was insured with stay sure. staysure hung us out to dry. They were no help at all. My dads body was left in the hotel room for over 24 hours. I had to do all the repatriation work with the help of the English embassy in Tenerife. The Embassy were amazing. I don’t know what I’d have done without them. I had to pay for the repatriation and all additional costs there and then myself, this was thousands. Staysure would not reimburse these costs until probate had been completed and they had received a sealed certificate, even though it was clear what had happened and it was my money that I was claiming back. This took 9 months to claim back!!! They were rude, there was no consideration, no bereavement line. This was just batched in with any normal claim, just as if I’d lost my purse. I had to deal with an out sourced company. Absolutely dire - I’ve no words to describe the distress this company caused in an already awful situation. Staysure has not yet responded.
