Your Weekender Breaks Reviews
Elena Charalambous: 1/5 Stars 09/01/2020 Scammers false advertising on Groupon deal We bought a groupon voucher for a 10 night trip to Thailand and the gorgeous Island of Phuket, for £699. When it came to booking the holiday, it wasn't so simple. Firstly, Weekender Breaks could not honour the hotels they have used to promote the deal, and secondly they wanted another £159 per person for direct flights. To add insult to injury, the alternative hotels were substandard in comparison to the flashy groupon deal. Feeling totally scammed, we started to do our own research and discovered that we could actually create the same itinerary for the same price. With a little extra we could go 4 Star and stay in the luxury. So we turned down the offer to pay an extra £300, and insisted on our deal, which was still great for the price. The very brash sales rep came back with another idea, pay £69 per person instead, with the substandard hotels. Again, we refused, so by day four of this escapade, she offered us a trip to Dubai. Not quite Thailand, and slightly bemused, we refused and asked to speak to a manager. A very polite male, with a great and unrealistic Britain name for a non-European, based somewhere in Mumbai, came to our rescue. Unfortunately, he could not honour the groupon deal either because their supplier was only offering cheaper accommodation. To shut us up, he did offer bed and breakfast for our entire stay; with a stopover in China - the cheaper flight options. Thankfully, Groupon honoured a full refund, so we've not had to request a clawback from AMEX. We have instead organised our own trip, with 5 Star accommodation and direct flights for £800 each. I'm unsure who the positive reviews on trustpilot are from? I have a sneaky suspicion it could from said company personnel themselves. Weekender Breaks has not yet responded. Yasmeen Beeharry: 1/5 Stars 25/11/2019 Don’t book it Rip off! Deffo cheaper doing it on my own through a thrid party travel website, atleast I would have been able to choose where I stay! Bought through Groupon, called up to confirm details, made to pay extra for slight changes. Lied to on the phone about location of hotel to Christmas markets, ended up being a 10 min drive away from civilization when told on the phone once we walk out the hotel we would see the Xmas markets. Called to complain and was told someone would get back to us and they never did. Not surprising but deffo never going to book through here again. Weekender Breaks has not yet responded. Sami Mirwald: 1/5 Stars 10/04/2019 Groupon deal which has cost a fortune I booked with groupon for a mystery get away for my boyfriends 40th. The deal cost 298 for two people, flying from London airport for 3 nights with return flights and hotel with bed and breakfast. I was then called the following morning by weekender breaks and I was going to riga on the 8th April . I explained that the deal I bought was from 10th April - May. I was then told if I insisted on going the , the fights would be an additional £120 and if I didn’t pay there and then, I would lose the entire booking. I was pressured into making this additional payment, and went straight on to groupon customer service to make a complaint and submit a cancellation. I was told no problem send the details over from weekender breaks, but although I did this, groupon just kept sending me emails saying as they hadn’t heard from me, the weee closing the complaint. This happened until it go to the point of no return on refunds of the voucher. I accepted this and decided to check how much it would have cost me to book directly for this trip as it seemed expensive, and I found that although I had paid £418 , the flights with Ryan air were only £113 for both of us, and the hotel £103 for all 3 nights! Not such a bargain. The day before we weee due to fly I got an email after I had checked on with Ryan air, that came from weekender breaks directly, stating I needed to contact Ryan air regarding my ‘specialist medical equipment’. I did this, to be told that I would need a doctors certificate to take my insulin pump on board and to get through security, and they had informed in in advance to the email address that I used for my booking . This turns out to be an email address that was created by weekender breaks so I didn’t have any control of access over the Ryan air booking! Absolute shambles. Unfortunately, despite spending 4 hours in the doctors surgery attempting to get such letter (have only been on the pump since November and wasn’t made awarecthix was different to my previous diabetes management for the past 16 years, to which I did have a letter but it didn’t specify pump) I then had an issue with airport security (separate complaint) and missed our flight. Now I have been to Ryan air check in desk directly, and as I didn’t make the booking myself I can’t get a refund or manage the booking, and weekender breaks when I try to contact are saying on a recording that the person I am trying to get through to is currently unavailable. I have now come back home, in total nearly £600 down, and not trip to show for it. I would never book through this company again, and would ensure I make everyone I know aware. It’s a massive scam Weekender Breaks has not yet responded. Jade Warren: 1/5 Stars 22/04/2019 Do not use!!! I absolutely cannot stress enough, how I would NEVER use this company. I purchased a deal through Wowcher for an trip to 3 nights Vegas, 3 nights New York and 2 nights LA. Picked the dates that were cheap and brought the voucher. When it came to weekender breaks contacting me to fulfil the order the service was appalling from start to finish. She rushed through some flight details on the phone and then advised me she could get me better flights for an extra £219pp. From previous reviews I knew this was a tactic to upsell so I advise I would read over the original flight and these upgraded flights if she send me details in a email. When the email came if was pre confirmation that I had AGREED to the supplementary flights aswell as transfers and breakfast in the hotels. All at an additional total of £612pp. The hotels they advised were completely different to the advertised ones too. Nowhere near as good. I went back and advised I did NOT want transfers or breakfasts and I wanted the original flight details so I could review. G then told me she couldn't send me these flight details via email until I agreed with them. (disregarding the fact that she had already send me flight details via email that I hadn't agreed to) She eventually send me the flight details that were available for the price I paid with no supplementary price. When I reviewed these flights the arrival times were actually in the middle of the night so you only got 2 nights in New York (not what I paid for) so I went back again and she advised she would review again. Another call back telling me she found me different flights and better hotels all for a supplementary price of £168pp giving me the maximum time in all cities. At the point I was 5 days into various conversations and absolutely furious that they couldn't provide what I had paid for without me paying some "additional" charge. The manager eventually called back and still tryed to offer me further different flights for additional charges. I advised I simply wanted what I paid for. And no additional anything. He then said he couldn't do that.. It was impossible and he would have to give me a refund. These seem a good deal at the time but they play on the fact people will fall for buying the additional extras. The deal actually does not exist. They have essentially advertised a product they cannot provide. I am surprised that Groupon and Wowcher still co-ordinate business with them. (on a side note Wowcher were brilliant and issued me a refund immediately) Do NOT use this company, do not for these "amazing deals" they do not exist. I will be reporting the business also due to the false advertising. Weekender Breaks has not yet responded.
