How are ratings decided?
Ratings are calculated using Citizens Advice statistics for the number and severity of customer complaints received about the supplier. Ratings also take in account the availability and access hours to a customer service call centre, and the availability and functionality of suppliers' web services for information and online billing. Deductions are made for recent fines from the energy regulator Ofgem. Broken down, this means a rating is dependent on: * How many complaints that they receive per 100,000 customers (according to Citizen’s Advice Data): The fewer the complaints, the better the rating. * The seriousness of the complaint. * How long it takes for suppliers to resolve the complaints. Other factors include how easy it is to get in contact with a supplier to complain; for instance if they have extended hours and/or Saturday hours for their call centre. How to get a great deal and great service on energy Now that you know who some of the best-rated suppliers are, you may be thinking about making the switch (which is fortunately quick and easy). Thankfully, these tariffs are easy to get on – all you have to do is enter some very simple details (mainly your postcode and usage – easy to find on a recent energy bill).
