On Radio 4’s Today programme the leader of lecturers’ union started what I imagine will be a big pushback against Boris Johnson’s very sensible law of banning the no platforming of speakers with the added threat of fining either the university or the student union were it to happen. Of course they would be if it was of the Left. University academics are shockers often turning against their own if they don’t like their politics. I agree with Gavin Williamson, the Secretary of State for Education, who says he wants to counter the chilling effect of censorship on campus.
