Gary Rose, from Lincoln, saved over £00 on his family’s car insurance | GET A QUOTE NOW When the polling company Gallup first began studying relations between black and white America in 2001 the outlook looked pretty harmonious. Around 70% rated the relations positively. Two decades later that optimism has disappeared with the latest poll showing 57% believing they are “somewhat” or “very” bad. Gallup surveyed 1,400 people across 50 states, including 275 blacks, 302 Hispanics and the rest white. The only good news is that black and white America were much more positive about relations with Hispanic which will be covered in a later report. The poll was carried out last month coinciding with the sentencing of Derek Chauvin for the murder of George Floyd and meaning the debate over racial justice was top of mind. I agree with the conservative Washington Examiner who said that relations are likely to get worse with the teaching of the critical race theory - the reinterpretation of US history which regards the nation’s institutions and cultures as inherently racist. A polling company over here should carry out such a poll. I think it would be slightly more optimistic but taking the knee has not been helpful. PS If you plan to buy either car or home insurance I wonder if you might look at my small price comparison site A Spokesman Said as we earn a little commission from each sale which helps fund the research and editorial costs of running the site. It has the same offer as the big ones like Go Compare. Thank you.
