There is a shocking clip making its way round social media concerning the “comedian” Katherine Ryan talking to an Asian woman taking part in the BBC2 jewellery show All That Glitters which went out on Tuesday night. Ryan says she needs to be more confident and adds; “Think like a straight white man.” Ryan’s entire demeanour is patronising. Secondly its surely racist to think that only woman people of colour can get through the rigours of life is to be white, straight and male. The answer is simple; any attack on white people is acceptable. Imagine the other way round. A nervous white woman being told; think like a straight, brown man. It would never happen.
