In my occasional series entitled Dim Judges of the World I present for your analysis Judge James Burbidge.
Before him at Worcester Crown Court was Chloe Kendrick, aged 28, who admitted grievous bodily harm by stabbing her ex.
The boyfriend, Daniel Wint, had gone round to her flat to drop off some of her belongings now they were no longer together.
In a drunken rage she grabbed a 6inch kitchen knife and plunged into his stomach while screaming; “Now you know how I feel.”
Mt Wint had a 2inch stab wound and lost four-and-a-half litres of blood in the attack.
Imagine if the attack had been the other way round. What would have been the sentence? Anywhere between 2-3 years I would have thought.
Instead Kendrick was handed a 20-month sentence suspended for just six months and given an 8pm to 7am curfew.

This is what Judge Burbidge said on sentencing; “Do you present as a danger to the public?
“I think if you again entered a personal relationship you will present a danger to that individual.
“You run a risk of taking your own life and a risk, if you were incarcerated of carrying such a threat out.”
Does anybody seriously worry about Kendrick? Certainly not me. It is only by the grace of God that she did not kill Mr Dint.
After the case Kendrick was photographed carrying cans of lager before going on to celebrate. Full of remorse? No but full of beer.
Should people like Judge Burbidge be allowed to sit on the bench when they sentencing mistakes like this.
I think not.
