The more I study the Boris Johnson plan to turn us green the more I turn red with anger.

It now emerges that homeowners living in older, rural and even listed properties risk being unable to sell if strict mortgages are introduced.

Boris, who is not a home owner, has told mortgage lenders they will have targets for the energy performance on their properties.

One estate agent said that those living in older properties could be left with homes they could not sell if buyers were unable to secure finance on them due to their lower energy efficiencies.

The effect would likely to be felt more by less wealthy owners as deep-pocketed buyers would be able to overlook mortgage restrictions.

Climate change is a phrase that has not crossed his lips in decades so why has Boris has come up with this enormous financial gamble. Does he believe it or is it the price of getting Carrie to say yes.

He dreams up these ideas certain in the knowledge that the world’s major polluters (China, Russia, India) will not follow suit so whatever we do will make little or no difference.

The only certainty about politics is when all parties are agreed we, the voter, are not being included in the conversation.

The reality is that by 2030 Boris will not be in office and by 2050 will be in the Where Did It All Go Wrong Rest Home.

With a bit of luck his ideas will go with him.
