I have always had my doubts about the long term future of Facebook and their decision to go encrypted with its shocking knock-on effect of allowing paedophiles and terrorist a free run on their platform confirms my view. Under the guise of protecting its user’s privacy, Facebook are adopting end-to-end encryption which means, according to Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, that conversations can no longer be monitored. Quite why their demographic - basically old dears talking about their grandchildren and supplying the odd photo of their cat - would care is quite beyond me. Police however say the change will blindfold them in their investigations into child sex abuse. It will have the same effect on terrorists who will know their exchanges can no longer be monitored. The Home Office tried to change the mind of the Facebook titans. That didn’t work so now Home Secretary Priti Patel is backing an aggressive ad campaign on newspapers, radio and TV to alert the public to what is happening on this social media platform. Mark Zuckerberg, the Facebook chief executive, admits that it will be easier to share child images with his new plan but believes encryption will ‘’keep people safe from hackers and criminals.’’ That may be true but surely Mr Zuckerberg, who is a dad himself, will not want his or his company’s legacy damaged by Facebook being known as either the paedophile’s friend or the terrorist’s friend. Could I suggest you put pressure on your mum and dad to come off Facebook. Zuckerberg doesn’t seem to understood emotional pressure but I’m certain will understand financial ones. To crack down on dognapping the government have at last come up with a good idea; send the pet stealers to jail for up to seven years. There has been a 250% rise in dog theft driven by two separate issues, one emotional and one commercial. With almost all of us spending more time at home the demand for a pet to go walkies with has gone off the scale. Prices of some breeds have risen by 100% making stealing them more profitable. But the real money is to be made by taking the stolen dogs and mating them. Often a minimum of handful of puppies is the result. The crooks then advertise the puppies at anything up to £4,000 depending on the breed. So one successful mating can earn them £25,000. You can’t even make that robbing a bank. For the first time the new law will take into account distress caused to the animal. It will also acknowledge that a stolen pet is far more than just the loss of property to its owners. It will also allow an animal cruelty element to be considered which cannot be done at present. The Times tells a painful story about the father of Melissa Cole who spent his retirement raising gun dogs until one night in September last year when they were stolen from secure kennels in Bedfordshire while he was fishing. The family’s two springer spaniels were among seven stolen. Melissa, 45, said; ‘’They have taken the peace of mind of both my parents. They are terrified out walking the dog as they feel somebody will break in.’’ Of the seven, only four have been recovered. There have been three arrests but the suspects have been released under investigation. Melissa said; ’’Currently if they are convicted they will be found guilty of stealing something equivalent to a microwave or a lawn mower.’’ Good point by Melissa as these dogs are so much more important than that. You would not have to be a genius to work out which community were stealing the pets for a living. Get the latest outspoken views and opinion from Kelvin MacKenzie straight to your inbox. If Colin Pitchfork, who murdered two teenage girls three years apart, is no longer a threat to society having been in jail for 33 years why is it that that the Parole Board have imposed 36 separate conditions on his freedom. These are some of the conditions. He must live at a designated address, he must take part in probation supervision, he must wear an electronic tag, he must take part in lie detector tests, he must say what vehicles he uses, must say who he speak to with particular limits on children. He will also be the subject to a curfew, have restrictions on using technology and limits on where he can go. Plus he cannot go into the county of Leicestershire where he carried out his vile crimes. The number of conditions makes me think that the Parole Board are simply not sure he is safe bet. And on that basis I cannot for the life of me understand why he has been released to a hostel run by the probation service. Pitchfork, now 61, raped and strangled two 15-year olds, Lynda Mann and Dawn Ashworth both in Leicestershire. His first murder was of Lynda in Narborough in November 1983. Three years later he killed Dawn. CLICK HERE: Find out how to avoid the energy price cap and save £££ on your energy bills Click Here: Save ££££ on your energy bills | Get cheap quotes now
He was caught following an unprecedented screening of 5,000 men using pioneering DNA profiling technology. He thought he had defeated the screening by getting a work colleague to take it for him saying that he wanted to avoid the test as he had a past he didn’t want to be bought up again. But the colleague talked and the police arrested him. So the use of a lie detector against Pitchfork might be of great use. I was particularly moved by the thoughts of Barbara Ashworth, mother of Dawn. This is what she said; ‘’I can never put it out of my mind. ‘’I recoil every day with people talking about their daughters and grandchildren. ‘’It’s an existence, it’s not a life. I’m not living a life, it’s just going from day to day.’’ It’s clear to me the Parole Board have made a mistake and Pitchfork should not have been released. In the light of all the protests about his release and others the government plans to overhaul the parole system. It has sought to change the law so that child killers face life behind bars without parole. Shame it’s too late to keep Pitchfork behind bars. They called it Good Morning Britain but it wasn’t the name that worked it was their star presenter Piers Morgan who brought in the audience. Politically neutral but anti-woke by nature his mixture of chutzpah and cheer more than doubled the audience bringing in much needed revenues into the ITV coffers. One day Piers turned his firepower on Meghan Markle and said openly he didn’t believe a word she said. A good point and one that chimed with most of his audience. But there was a minority that didn’t believe in free speech and began complaining to the media regulator Ofcom. Unbelievably 47,000 complaints poured in. These days you only have to click a button. The ITV CEO Dame Carolyn McCall, a former boss of The Guardian, joined in. She told Piers you apologise or you are off the air. Correctly Piers responded by saying he had nothing to apologise for. It was his opinion. He was entitled to have a view about Meghan. She then forced him off air but continued to pay his contract. As you might expect the audience then halved putting GMB back where it was before Piers turned up. Now comes the bombshell, Ofcom have ruled in favour of Piers and told ITV their actions were quite wrong to fire him as it would have a ‘’chilling restriction of the freedom of expression.’’ A fantastic result for Piers and a shocking blow for ITV and McCall. The best thing that could happen now is for GMB to rehire Piers and sack McCall. She has made an awful mistake and it’s not the first one in her media career. While at The Guardian she ordered printing presses which were not quite tabloid and not quite broadsheet. They cost a fortune and it would have been much cheaper to do a deal with another newspaper business. Once she had gone that is exactly what the new management did saving the business tens of millions. McCall is a dud, Piers is a star. It has the same offer as the big ones like Go Compare. Thank you. I’ve asked this question before and I ask it once again; What on earth is going on inside the mind of our judges. Take the shocking case of Ella Cooper. She was with her fiancé David and they were on the way to lay flowers on her father’s grave. In a matter of weeks Ella, a 37-year-old successful businesswoman, and David were due to married. That big day never happened. She was driving her VW UP on a rural Dorset road back in February 2020 when an Isuzu D-Max pick-up truck crashed into her. That truck was driven by Daniel Samways, aged 37 who worked in a lumber mill. All three were taken to hospital. Ella never made it. When in Salisbury hospital Samways had a blood test. And what do you think it showed? Surprise! Surprise! It was found to contain a metabolite of cocaine. He had 52 micrograms per litre of blood. The legal limit is 50mg. He had also drunk two pints of lager but was under the limit. Further he claimed the crash happened because he had fallen asleep as you do at 6pm in the evening. How anybody could prove he had fallen asleep is quite beyond me. I see they rolled out the same defence for the Croydon tram driver who killed seven passengers. CLICK HERE: Gas & electricity bills to rise by an average of £139 in October | Get cheap energy quotes now CLICK HERE: Beat the energy price cap rise | How to save £££ on your energy bills
Samways of Sixpenny Handley, a village in Dorset, pleaded guilty at Bournemouth Crown Court to drug driving causing death by dangerous driving. Instead of throwing the book at him for killing a woman who had such a rosy future in front Judge Brian Foster simply jailed Samways for 16 months. The reality is that Samways will be out in five months or less. The judge is an idiot and should never be allowed to hear such cases again. Wholly incapable of handing out proper justice. Ella’s family issues a moving statement which I hope the judge reads. It said; ‘’Ella, we’re so proud of everything you achieved in your life-a life which was cut too short. ‘’Your many travels and adventures showed us all how to enjoy life. Completing your MBA whilst working full time as head of Vitality Care reminded us all how tough and hard -working you always were.’’ Five months for destroying not just one life but also that of her fiancé. That sentence was criminal. It trousers billions of our money every year and even in difficult times (and even its most ardent supporters must admit these are tough times) it always has its hand out for more. How on earth it can go into serious discussions with the government for an increased licence fee while paying well over a million to Gary Lineker and thousands a week to Emily Matliss is quite beyond me. But that’s what they do. So I am pleased to report that they have just been told that they will receive less than the rate of inflation over the next five years. According to the Times one of the reasons is that Red Wall areas do not approve of Lineker’s pay. That will be the first substantive return for the Northern voters backing Boris in 2019. Only a small step but it is one in the right direction. The government points out that ordinary families are facing steep rises in their bills without the help of the BBC. For instance come next month energy bills will go up by around 14% and next year national insurance will rise by 1%. My suggestion for beating some of the gas and electricity rise would be to go on my little price comparison site A Spokesman Said but do feel free to go anywhere you like. You would be mad not to. But it’s the cheek of the BBC in asking for more which astounds me. During the negotiations they trotted out the usual arguments saying that “quality” programming would be affected unless they were given an inflation-proof rise. That is rubbish. The BBC are simply doing too much. They should retreat from commercial areas. These negotiations are an ideal time to simply cut the licence fee by a third. Yes it will mean less but the commercial world will fill it. I watched Andy Murray put up a fabulous display against No.3 seed Tsitsipas on Amazon Prime last night. Who could have forecast a decade or so back that a retail distributor would be bringing me my television? The world of TV is changing and I seriously object to facing jail if I don’t want to pay a licence fee introduced when there was only one TV station - the BBC. I am sure the BBC would prosper if it went over to Netflix-style payment i.e. pay if you wanted it and don’t pay if you didn’t. That is the future. If you were Mrs Kathy McCollum how would you feel if you were robbed of your boy only days away from getting on a plane to be with his wife to watch their son being born? Speaking on local radio she said; I woke up at 4 this morning to Marines at my door telling me my son was dead. “My son is gone and I just want all you Democrats who cheated in the election, or who voted for him legitimately, you just killed my son. The death toll was the highest for any single incident since 2011. I take issue with Biden over his saying that the UK could stay in Afghanistan if they wanted. That was a cheap shot. We only went in at the behest of the Americans who wanted to wipe out the terrorists behind 9/11. We simply don’t have the capability to fight such a war. Biden would know that. With America no longer prepared to leave its borders and fight for democracy and capitalism the world has suddenly become a very dangerous place. There is only one answer; Dramatically increase our military spending. If we can’t hide behind Biden’s America then we have to stand up for ourselves. To pay for better defence we must increase our taxes. Painful but the only solution unless you want to see the Chinese army marching down Oxford Street. Thank you I am so pleased that Katharine Birbalsingh is to being put in charge of the Social Mobility Commission which is to be focussed on the “equality of opportunity” rather than the “equality of outcome.” Ms Birbalsingh is our kind of warrior. Shockingly back in 2011 she was basically forced out of her job as deputy head of an academy in Camberwell, South London, after she appeared at a Tory conference and attacked some “utterly chaotic” state schools. Three years later she set up, in a converted office block, the Michaela Community school in Wembley, north London. She is a tough as all hell. She has a “no excuses” behaviour policy in which pupils are given demerits or detention for forgetting their pencils or pens or for talking in the corridors between lessons. It's working. The first set of GCSE results show 54% of all grades were level 7 or better (equivalent to the old-style A-A*) more than double the national average of 22%. In April Ms Birbalsingh criticised the woke culture for “mercilessly attacking” black conservatives who dare to think for themselves. Now Boris has recognised that people like her should be at the top table in government and handed her the massively important job helping individuals to transcend the circumstances of their birth. Opportunity is everything. Outcome as we all know is different. She is keeping her job as Head Teacher but will set the direction and priorities of the Commission. This is a great appointment. Why has the courts allowed this convicted terrorist (he arrived on a forged passport) to stay here.8/29/2021 It is truly disgraceful that a convicted terrorist has won his 27-year fight to stay in this country. You must really wonder what goes on in the mind of our Supreme Court judges. Are they simple or are they too Liberal? Isn’t it time there were people like you and I sitting alongside these judges explaining how the public view such decisions? This is the story of Yasser al-Sirri. Back in 1993 he is found guilty in his native Egypt of an Islamist plot to kill then then Prime Minister Atef Sedki. The PM survived but a 12-year-old girl died. He fled the Middle East and by using a forged passport got into the United Kingdom bringing his wife and four children with him. They settled in the Maida Vale district of London and have lived for the past three decade off state benefits. That will have cost a fortune. He ran up legal aid bills of millions and it has paid off. The Supreme Court has ruled that he should be granted refugee status even though it was told the government regarded him “as a danger to the security of the UK”. So here we have it. The guy is a danger to us and yet the judges won’t kick him out. Why? Apparently he was sentenced to death back in Egypt for plotting to kill his PM. A reasonable sentence you would have thought. To add even more pain to the decision al-Sirri has been posting on Facebook how pleased he is at the Taliban victory. This is what he said; “The Taliban takeover is a victory for all Muslims and all the oppressed.” If it is such a victory why are so many Afghanis getting out? In a first class piece Times journalist Anthony Loyd (an expert on Afghanistan) paints a truly shocking picture of the psychopaths running ISIS-K. Take this tale. Back in 2017 ISIS were taking on their hated enemy the Taliban. They captured ten Taliban fighters from the Shinwari tribe including elders with grey beards. They were forced to kneel in a line on a chain of explosives and then blown to pieces. The atrocity was filmed from different angles and then released as PR. Another ISIS-K captive told how a large saucepan containing the severed heads of Afghan border police was placed outside his prison cave. If you have a nervous disposition turn away now. One captured border police officer was forced to the ground, hands tied behind his back, chin forced down on a block of wood and two men stood on his back while a black-clad Pakistani mullah slit the man’s throat and then cut off his head. A Taliban commander in a village below Tora Bora told Loyd; “I fought the Russians, I have fought the communists, I have fought the foreigners but believe me the Daesh (ISIS) are the worst of all. “At least the Taliban just shoot their enemies. The Daesh chopped some of my men and family into quarters.” And that is why it is very much in the West’s interests that we literally wipe out ISIS. I do not see the point, as the US, has done in sending in a single drone to kill the planner of the suicide bombing at Kabul airport. We need to send in literally thousands of drones. These people need to be wiped off the face of the earth. Oddly the reason you are probably struggling to see your GP may have nothing to do with Covid but everything to do with the way the doctors are paid. Despite the fact the public spending on general practice is up 20% and that the number of qualified GPs was a record 37,293 (up 3% on last year) the number working full-time was only 27,752. Average earnings for a GP is £100,700 for a 37.5 hour working week. But almost 90% of them work less than full-time. The BMA, the doctors’ trade union, say they do this because their job is very stressful. Think we might all make that argument. By only working half the week the GP can still make £50,000. As things stand, according to James Kirkup of the Social market Foundation, adding 1,019 qualified GPs to the workforce delivered the equivalent of only 331 more full-time doctors. I agree with Mr Kirkup that most employers who had to hire three people to do one job would be looking for a change in the system. Throw in the fact that the average age of retiring is now 59 while the rest of the country has to keep flogging on until 67 and you can see why the GP cannot see you now. There needs to be change. Boris should take on the BMA. The country pays a fortune for their training the least they can do is work full-time until they are 50. Biden is not right in the head so we must increase our military spending to protect our nation.8/27/2021 Perhaps I am naïve but I have always looked to America for leadership. Whether it’s democracy or capitalism they were the country I looked up to. Biden has destroyed that belief. Afghanistan has not only been a graveyard for those 13 brave US Marines but also the dead end for Biden’s Presidency. It is clear the man who is the titular head of the Free World is not up to the job. His decision making has been bloody awful and his press conferences, his public face, if anything even worse. Last night he was at his worst. He looked shocking and although I liked the idea of him saying he would hunt down ISIS bombers how on earth was he going to down that with no boots on the ground and Afghanistan ruled by his medieval enemies. When Biden, 78, was asked if he bore responsibility for the ISIS attack he looked lost for words. He should not have been. He is the President of the United States and should have been able to push right back. Biden’s health- and it is clearly a health issue- is a massive problem for the United Kingdom. If we cannot rely on the United States who can we rely on? China is on the rampage, Putin is a criminal and the mad mullahs of the world will be emboldened by the Taliban victory. We are surrounded by our enemies. Even Europe has an uncertain note on the trumpet. Not a word from Merkel on the invasion of Ukraine by Putin. We must increase our military spending. The world is a much more dangerous place since Biden moved into the White House. We must be bold and we must be brave. In fact we must be the opposite of the United States. If brains were air miles I have my doubts that Louisa Compton, head of news and sport at Channel 4, would reach the end of the runway. Ms Compton, whose previous job was to run the Victoria Derbyshire show which was so poor that even the BBC2 canned it, spent yesterday sitting on a panel discussing if TV was too woke at the Edinburgh TV Festival. Anybody who has had the misfortune of watching C4 will already know the answer. You can’t appear on it’s network unless you are beyond politically correct. It is the reason the audience has collapsed over the past decade. They have a former deputy editor of The Guardian as its Programme Director for God’s sake. To prove how out of touch these TV herberts are Ipso Mori conducted a poll. It showed that only 19% of people in the television industry thought political correctness had gone too far while 62% of viewers (and they pay their wages) held that view. And 83% of TV supported the Black Lives Matter movement. But it was the quote from Louisa Compton which got me reaching for my blood pressure tablets. She said; “I don’t think anyone in TV would be surprised to hear that a lot of people who work (in the industry) think differently to the audience we're making progress for.” Let’s look at her last four words. We're making progress for. What on earth does she mean? I suspect she thinks that she and her overpaid crew at C4 are “educating” the viewers with the correct view of life. I wonder if I might explain to Ms Compton that her job is simply to entertain. If she wants to educate can I suggest she goes into teaching. The government has correctly decided to sell C4 while it still has a value. When the buyers come along they will be looking at their management to see how they can improve it. In my view their first action would be to give Ms Compton the boot and replace her with somebody who has the audience views at heart and not their own. His studied silence to the sex allegations casts a shadow not only over him but the whole Royal family and at 95 must be a daily worry to The Queen. But it’s a story by gossip columnist Richard Eden in the Daily Mail that makes me certain he is not right in the head. He reveals that Andrew took not one, not two but three SUV vehicles to Scotland for his holiday to Balmoral. The three Chelsea tractors travelled in convoy for the 1,000-mile round trip from Royal Lodge, Windsor, to Deeside returning after a 10-day stay. Andrew still receives taxpayer-funded police protection although he retreated from public life because of his ill-judged friendship with Jeffrey Epstein. He was due to have his armed police cover down-graded but he had it restored after a complaint to The Queen. I presume it was two of the officers who drove the cars while Andrew drove the third. One of the vehicles was a new petrol powered Land Rover defender costing around £53,000. The other two were his Land Rover Discovery (£51,185) and his Range Rover petrol-electric hybrid costing a whopping £115,000. Has he an arrangement with Land Rover either receiving the cars at a discount or viewed as PR. If it’s the latter could I suggest to Land Rover that Andrew is not a good image for its business. While the rest of us are concerned in our small way about climate change Andrew says these things don’t bother me and if I want three large cars to go to Scotland to Scotland they will go. According to The Times the average size of the families coming to the UK is seven people. At least one of the families has 12 people. While councils have offered accommodation to just over 2,500 people the number of Afghans is thought to be nearer 15,000. Apparently most Afghans are arriving at Birmingham airport and then going into quarantine for ten days. Then they are offered accommodation either in married quarters at MoD bases or in hotels. In order to house all these people the government will give local councils grants to rent or even buy large houses. One in three councils has come forward to find places for the refugees and the government are hopeful many more will do so. Councils are already offered about £10,000 per Afghan migrant to provide them with accommodation and support. A further £5million has been earmarked which will surely not be enough. The Afghans are being rehoused across the country, with council leaders and mayors in Liverpool, London, Kent and Essex sharing strong statements of support. Others have been moved to West Yorkshire, Portsmouth, Hampshire, Surrey and Melton in Leicestershire. This is a massive operation but what has surprised me is the size of the average Afghan family. Afghanistan is one of the poorest nations on earth. Why would the parents want to produce children that they could not adequately clothe and feed. It is a similar issue in Africa. The Chinese had the right idea in keeping the number of children down by law. Let’s get even8/23/2021 As I arrived back at Heathrow’s Terminal 5 last night I feared what might be awaiting us. Would there be queues at UK Borders which might match those in Kabul? Even in the best of times the E-gates didn’t work so what on earth would it be like with all the Covid paperwork. Actually we sailed through. And so did everybody else including our “friends” in the EU. And the reason was that we allowed the Europeans (and the good people of the US, South Korea and beyond) to use the E-gates as well. An excellent and big-hearted decision by the bureaucrat who took it. Compare that to what happened to us when a week previously we landed at Lisbon Airport. It took us an hour or more to go through the All Passports queue - Twitter followers have talked of two hour queues - as the authorities had virtually nobody in the booths. Contrast this with their EU gate where it was fully manned and everybody shot through. Has there been a top-level decision in Brussels to punish the UK for having the temerity to decide they didn’t want to be a member of the club any more. Thanks to The Times I have a further example of EU bloody mindedness. Apparently post-Brexit hostility to Britain Macron and his mates (if he has any) are blocking an EU move to use a Nottinghamshire-based company to fly over the channel looking for smugglers and spotting their boats at they set out in French waters. It looked like DEA Aviation based in Retford had won the order from Frontex, the EU policing agency, over Dutch and Austrian contenders. But the newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche said; “With the background of Brexit, Paris does not want to hear any talk of such an option. Off the record, France has imposed an outright refusal on Frontex.” Two can play at that game. Isn’t it time that all holdings in water and energy companies (I am with EDF) should be revisited and that those that are French owned are nationalised and then put up for sale again. There will be squeals from the French but they started it. Belarus is the last of Europe’s totalitarian states which has been run for the last couple of decades by a vile piece of work called Lukanshenko. He keeps being beaten in elections but stays in office. It’s the joy of being a dictator. So countries like us have begun to cause him pain hoping to bring him to heel. It’s his response which alarms me and will do you. He has begun flying in migrants from the Middle East - some of them from Afghanistan. Then can you imagine what he does? Unbelievably he then forces the migrants across the border into EU’s Lithuania in retaliation for them supporting his opponents. I learned this from a great piece by Glen Owen in the Mail on Sunday who flew to the Lithuanian border with Belarus with my hero of the hour, Tom Tugendhat, the chairman of the Commons Foreign Affairs Committee whose speech last week attacking Biden’s decision to quit Afghanistan was heard in rare silence and even rarer applause. As Tugendhat tells Glen Owen; “Human trafficking is being weaponised by hostile states.” That is already the case with Turkey. The EU is paying £3billion a year to stop Turkey allowing literally hundreds and thousands of migrants from making their way across Aegean Sea into Greece and then into the no-borders system of the European Union. Had we not had the common sense to vote for Brexit even more illegal migrants would be heading our way then currently doing so. This year alone that number looks like 20,000. Migration will be one the biggest political challenges of our age. With dictators becoming ever stronger we must be prepared to talk tough and act tough to prevent us being swamped by a human tide. Didn’t fancy all the covid aggro at the airports but neither did I fancy the gloomy weather forecast for the South Coast although I remembered great holidays as a kid in Sandbanks. The sunshine won. I plumped for Cascais, an upmarket resort 30 minutes from Lisbon. A decent choice. Weather good, hotel pricey but reasonable value. While away another reason for not picking Bournemouth has emerged. Incredibly the local council has scrapped all the deckchairs. And it’s the reason that I find so shocking. Apparently last year thugs started using the chairs as weapons in old style Mods v Rockers fights on the beaches. So instead of the local police being asked to step up patrols or local magistrates being asked to jail these hooligans for long periods the council decided to get rid of the 3,500 chairs. How supine. Deck chairs have been a feature on the Bournemouth beach for 100 years and last year brought in £200,000 in much needed revenue. At the height of Covid last June and July Bournemouth was overrun with hundreds and thousands of people and fights regularly broke out. The council should not bow to these thugs and the opposition should demand that they are reinstated for next year. Nor should the council be allowed to scrap the chairs without a public debate. What a ghastly couple of untalented squirts they have turned into. Or possibly always were. You may remember during the Oprah Winfrey interview an unnamed royal - said not to be The Queen or the Duke of Edinburgh - was accused of racism by raising concerns about what colour skin their son Archie would have. The Palace pushed back against the charge saying “recollections may vary” about their conversations. Basically a polite way of saying it never happened. Now, in a new epilogue in his book Finding Freedom, the author Omid Scobie says Harry wants The Queen to take “full ownership” of the race allegations. Harry claims to have too much respect to “blindside” the Queen but needs “accountability” from certain individuals within the Firm over his allegations. Speaking in an interview to promote the new edition of the book Scobie said that “little progress” had been made to heal the rifts between Harry and his father and brother. The Duchess has insisted that the couple did not collaborate with the authors of Finding Freedom. I don’t imagine that is true but can’t disprove it. What I do find disgraceful is that Harry on the one hand claims he is loyal to The Queen but on the other puts her at the centre of the race allegation. The sooner the royal family strip this pair of their titles the better. The Taliban are entitled to sell their Islamic violence to the world while Donald J Trump has to keep his views to himself. How ridiculous. Twitter defended its decision to allow Taliban-related accounts to stay active saying the people of Afghanistan are using the platform to seek help and refuge. American politicians have sought an explanation from Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey. Rep. Madison Crawthorn, a North Carolina Republican, said; “Who’s side is the AMERICA-based Big Tech companies on?” A very good point. America lost thousands of troops to the Taliban you would have thought at the very minimum this US firm would not want anymore of their lies and hatred spewed out through their platform. For years diet experts have warned meat-replacement items should not automatically be perceived as being “healthier” just because they contain no red meat. But to counter-balance the argument they said that higher sugar and salt may not be worse because many veggie options have fewer calories, less fat and more fibre. So to give them credit Daily Mail health reporter Emily Craig looked at the nutritional benefits of a selection of BBQ benefits, including sausages and burgers, kebabs, bacon and meatballs. She reports that per 100g of vegetarian chilli and lime kebabs made by Wicked Kitchens, there is 2g of sugar compared to just 0.2g for the same amount in Morrisons’ lamb kebabs. And two Birds Eye meat-free sausages contain 2.2g of sugar compared to just 0.5 in two pork sausages sold at Tesco. Meanwhile a plant based steak by Vivera - which is sold at Sainsbury’s and Asda - has 2.4g of sugar per 200g while a ribeye steak on offer at Sainsbury’s has less than 0.5g. We should listen to British Nutrition Foundation on these matters. They say it is important to consider essential nutrients that animal-derived products can provide and encourage dietary change that might be at the detriment to your health. He says there are a couple of reasons for him going. 1) It’s time the viewers had a change. 2) He’s coming up to 60. He does not refer to a third potential reason; that he has been at the BBC since 1984 and therefore a gilded 37-year pension will be a nice little earner among the skint of Carmarthen. But in his interview with Radio Cymru he does express his annoyance at having his salary disclosed. I am delighted to hear it. The reality is that cocaine use among the wealthy is out of control. I know of a very famous businessman who threw a birthday party for his wife where his wife handed out packets of cocaine to the guests. All kinds of celebrity business types were at the do but not one of them complained at what is a criminal act. They thought it was normal. That’s how bad it is. A senior police officer said the order to get after the middle classes had come from Home Secretary Priti Patel. The spokesman said; “We have been told to go after high value individuals to arrest those who see drugs as part of their lifestyle and don’t believe there will be any ramifications.” Certainly if the name I have been given was arrested it would have a dramatic effect on their business and personal position. I have no idea if the two 14-year-olds who were arrested last night for the stabbing murder of father-of-three Jamie Markham will be charged or will be found guilty. But I do know that if they appear in a crown court they should be named and shamed and not allowed to continue their lives without anybody knowing what thugs they are. The death of Mr Markham, a father of three, from Chingford Mount, Essex, was particularly tragic. He was knifed on his doorstep while protecting his daughter from a gang swinging metal poles and shouting abuse. Absolutely shocking.
