It has been a great year of saving - A Spokesman Said customers have put hundreds of pounds back in their pockets simply by switching.

We had a number of great success stories from our members who switched on their car insurance, energy or home insurance.

We love your money-saving stories. Do yourself a favour and see how much you could save.

Here are a few of our best stories from the year.

Energy saving stories

Constance Cuff, from Ascot, Berkshire, saved £732 by switching from British Gas.

At 79-years-young, Constance made her first ever energy switch.

"I knew I was paying far too much with British Gas – a ridiculous amount.

"There is nothing to lose, you have more to gain."

Matthew Casey, from Washington, Tyne and Wear, avoided a £520 increase by switching to SSE.

Matthew, 71, received a letter from Sainsbury's Energy to say their monthly bills were increasing from £80 to £117.

"My immediate reaction was 'you are having me on'."

He went through A Spokesman Said, switched to SSE and will be paying £882 per year – a saving of £520.

Brian Jones, from Swadlincote, South Derbyshire, saved £400 a year.

He switched the gas and electricity on his 3-bed semi, to an 18-month fixed, dual-fuel deal with French firm Engie.

“You make your choice of new supplier, provide them with your details and they contact your present supplier and take care of the whole switching process for you.

“It’s a simple process to complete - everyone should do it.”

Car insurance switching stories

Paul Richards, from Mossley, Greater Manchester, saved £500 on car insurance.

Paul and his wife were facing a combined cost of £1200 for the premiums on their two cars.

After switching, they cut their combined bill down to £700.

Now they are planning a holiday with the extra £500 in their pocket.

Jim Gellatly and his wife Candy, from Scotland, saved £600 on car insurance.

The fully-comp premium for him and his wife on their little Citroen Picasso had shot up to over £1,000 a year.

“I couldn’t believe how much cheaper it was with Direct Line.

“It’s bonkers, £600 a year is an incredible saving; it will be a big help.”

Christopher Merritt, from Leicestershire, saved £330 by switching car insurance.

Christopher had been with the same car insurance for more than eight years – but little did he know he was paying almost twice as much as he needed to.

Christopher, 51, was paying about £560 per year for insurance on his Saab 9-5.

By switching he cut his bill down to £227.

"I was very surprised. It is unbelievable," he said.

He got a deal by switching to Zurich Insurance.

"Thanks for your sterling efforts."

Joyce Kemp, of Portsmouth, saved £400 by switching home insurance.

Joyce, 89, had been overpaying for years for insurance on her two-bedroom terraced house.

"It was just one of those things she had not looked into," her step-daughter said.

Joyce ended up getting a deal for £300 with Nationwide.
