Energy companies and telecoms have the worst customer service, according to a new survey.

But THE absolute worst company for customer service?

In first place – drum roll please – is Scottish Power.

In the poll, commissioned by consumer organisation Which?, the utility giant was in last position out of a list of 100 companies.

Pollsters asked the opinions of 3,501 people in order to arrive at the findings. People’s opinions and ratings were based on their experiences with companies during the previous 12 months.

Scottish Power received a satisfaction rating of just 59% – even worse than the previous year.

Other companies doing poorly include Ryanair, which has had a well-publicised push to improve its customer service lately. Despite this, it still features in the bottom five of the list. Which just goes to show how hard it is to turn the public’s perception around.

At the other end of the scale, Lush, the online cosmetics company, topped the list for the best customer service, followed by First Direct and Lakeland.

Here are the six WORST companies for customer service.

Scottish Power (59%)

npower (61%)

BT (63%)

TalkTalk (64%)

Vodafone (66%)

Ryanair (66%)

And the best…

Lush (89%)

First Direct (86%)

Lakeland (84%)

The Body Shop (83%)

John Lewis (83%)

Waitrose (83%
